Numbers dictate the scraps of combat, while each slot pull can turn a tidy plan into a mess in seconds. Goblins, oddball effects and the quick runs keep things pleasantly unpredictable. Once the first light card is cleared, the extra cash helps loosen the purse strings and makes the early grind less stingy.
The crooked creature art and dusty arcade look give it plenty of character, especially alongside those chunky drum-machine beats. The campaign is fairly short, but the score mode has that annoying little “one more try” quality that can eat up an evening.
