Boss encounters are easily the highlight, with each one built around a different rhythm instead of recycling the same attack pattern. Enemy gauntlets keep the quieter stretches lively, while three classes and six characters give the combat roster a good bit of character. Hidden treasures are scattered around the stages too, rewarding players who bother to stray from the obvious route.
The fully unlocked version opens the entire game from the start, so the complete package is available without a drawn-out unlock process. The first few hours can be punishing until enemy behaviour becomes familiar, but the learning curve feels worthwhile. Checkpoint placement is the one recurring annoyance; an unlucky death can send you on a long walk back. For a compact indie action title, though, there is a heck of a lot packed inside.
