The best part is how naturally everything fits without feeling overloaded. Movement stays quick and satisfying, the four characters handle differently enough to keep things interesting, and the looser map layout lets you choose where to go instead of forcing a fixed route. Named NPCs have their own looks rather than feeling like copied background filler, while the mechanical touch in the artwork gives the world plenty of personality. Small details such as letting characters pose for screenshots are silly in the right way. The full version is already unlocked in the current build, so the entire adventure can be played without waiting on locked content, and picking up supplies is far less of a chore. Platforming, combat, music and exploration fit together neatly, giving the whole thing a pleasantly old-school feel.
