Three health points leave almost no room for sloppy movement. A careless encounter costs health, a panicked escape can end with a nasty fall, and the first-person view is perfectly capable of hiding trouble just outside the frame. Death comes cheap, yet learning the maze, remembering routes, and scavenging useful gear kept pulling me back. The full version is unlocked.
Chunky pixel visuals keep the presentation bare-bones, while the maze itself provides most of the challenge. Exploring unfamiliar rooms, figuring out where to go, and keeping useful gear intact can be surprisingly tense. The weapon selection is fairly small, but the rough edges give the whole experience a scrappy, old-school feel.
