Arida: Backland's Awakening is an adventure survival game. Players will play as a little girl, exploring the arid Brazilian interior, completing various tasks entrusted by the villagers, finding little secrets hidden in chests, collecting the only water and food around and cooking them to survive.
Vivid cutscenes: The dynamic illustrations with a very artistic sense, the very poetic English subtitles and the very sweet female voice dubbing vividly show the charm of Brazil in front of the players, and put the players into the game without hesitation. Enter the mysterious and unknown interior of Brazil. With the development of the game's plot, the cutscenes will also be played synchronously, players can get closer to Brazil, understand and explore the interior of Brazil in the 19th century.
Emotional backstory: In the 19th century Brazil's interior was ravaged by drought, many plantations were destroyed, and most of the inhabitants were forced to part ways and find new homes. A curious little girl, she listens to the advice of her grandfather and other villagers and learns how to survive and how to be strong in the face of drought in order to achieve her ultimate dream: to explore the wilderness and reunite with her parents. Just when everything was ready, something unexpected happened to the little girl...
A colorful adventure: There are many places for players to explore in the game, starting from a little girl's home, to a deserted farm, an empty village, to the valley of death, and finally to a faraway place. Each location has little secrets to "dig" out of the box to find out more legends about the outback. And in the meantime, you can click on various things to investigate and find out what's behind it.
During your adventure, you will meet several older villagers. Help them complete a series of tasks, such as: finding lost goats, helping to collect tea, helping to find water sources, etc., in order to obtain water and food to survive.
Real and harsh survival mechanism: adventure and survival are the same, because the hot sun is baking the Brazilian interior, so the little girl's moisture and satiety values are quickly lost. Players need to use two tools in their hands, a hoe and a knife to obtain essential supplies. The hoe can dig water and hoe some plants from the field; the knife can "cut through thorns" like a path, or cut down a section of edible/drinkable cactus, or open a wooden treasure chest. However, if the tool is used for a long time in the game, its status bar will turn black. At this point, the player needs to find a whetstone on the side of the road, and sharpen the tool before continuing to use it.
However, if you just "drink the water of the cactus and eat the flesh of the cactus", it is far from enough to sustain life. Fortunately, the game comes with a cooking system. Players only need to build a bonfire and collect all the ingredients needed to cook a dish. For example: baked eggs, roasted pumpkin, tortillas, etc. And the ingredients will be refreshed every time you come here again, so you don't have to worry about despairing of lack of food.
In addition, the protagonists in the game are portrayed vividly. Whenever the little girl's hydration or satiety value reaches the warning line, the player can see the screen become blurry and the little girl is teetering, looking like she is about to fall. And the "whoops" sound when the little girl is pricked by a cactus or stepped on shit is also well represented.
Shiny advantages: vivid cutscenes, emotional backstory, colorful adventures, real and harsh survival adventures.
